Leicester City manager Steve Cooper says his side suffered from “two poor decisions” during their 4-2 defeat at Arsenal.
Cooper’s side were 2-0 down at half-time following goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but two second half goals from James Justin saw the game level before an injury time own goal from Wilfried Ndidi and late Kai Havertz strike took the game away from the visitors.
44-year-old Cooper lamented two decisions from referee Sam Barrott; the Leicester boss was booked for protesting what he felt was a foul on Jamie Vardy in the build-up to Martinelli’s opening goal and said Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori should have been shown a second yellow card in the second half.
“I don’t want to make the headlines around referees, because I am trying to take responsibility for a team trying to do better in the Premier League,” Cooper told BBC Sport after Saturday’s match.
“But it is a clear foul on Vardy for the first (Arsenal) goal and the left-back (Calafiori) has to get sent off for a second yellow. We feel those were two poor decisions.
“There is so much more that we could say and there is so much more that the whole game knows but I am not going down that road today.”
Leicester, who have three points from their opening six Premier League matches, return to action on October 5 with a home match against Southampton.
