Not much moved in the Super Bowl odds after the Kansas City Chiefs whupped the New Orleans Saints Monday night to close out NFL Week 5.
And that includes the New York Jets’ odds — even after they fired coach Robert Saleh.

The Chiefs odds got slightly shorter, from +500 to +475, but the gap between Kansas City and the rest of the field widened more than that. The San Francisco 49ers fell from +650 to +750, now tied with the Baltimore Ravens, who improved from +850. The Houston Texans’ odds also shortened from +1300 to +1100.
The Ravens’ odds are likely to just keep getting shorter. They’ve righted the ship on offense and look nigh unstoppable when Derrick Henry gets rolling. We’ll check back in next week after they play Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders, a matchup in which they are one of Week 6’s biggest favorites.

The NFC North continues to be the division to reckon with this year. It’s the only division where every team has at least three wins, and in which three teams — the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers — are in the top ten of the odds to win the Super Bowl. In fact, shouldn’t the 5-0 Vikings (+1200) be getting more love at this point? They are the only other team than the Chiefs that remains undefeated. Sure, five games is still a small sample size, and we have a lot of football ahead of us, but they look like the real deal as they and the Chiefs head into a bye week.
The 3-1 Lions are coming off a bye with the 3-2 Dallas Cowboys up next, a team that is underperforming so far.
The AFC North, on the other hand, is breaking with expectations in the opposite way: The Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals are 1-4 with ever-lengthening odds after opening at +1400. They opened as the sixth-favorite to win it all and are now — appropriately, perhaps — 13th.
They just lost in overtime to the 3-2 Ravens, who comfortably lead the division and are steadily climbing in the odds after a bizarre 0-2 start. Again, the Ravens’ odds are at an interesting juncture. Assuming you feel good about their chance against the Commanders, their odds are likely only getting shorter from here. They also have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos up.
San Francisco (2-3) has been a head-scratcher so far this year. They have been plagued with injuries from the outset and have only managed to beat the New York Jets and New England Patriots. The slight lengthening of their odds came after a 24-23 loss to the 2-3 Arizona Cardinals. Next up, they have the Seattle Seahawks and Chiefs, with a much-needed 10-day gap between those games.
The Buffalo Bills have had a tough run with two consecutive losses in a blowout against the Ravens and 23-20 loss to the Texans. Expect their odds to inch back in a good direction, though: Their upcoming schedule runs through the Jets, Tennessee Titans, Seahawks, Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts.
As for the Jets, they opened at +3000 odds, got down to +1800 after Week 2, and ended up right back at +3000 after Week 4. The news of Saleh’s firing didn’t budge the odds. The “Aaron Rodgers is sad” memes are having a heyday.
