Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White set to miss Crystal Palace match through injury

Morgan Gibbs-White is set to miss Nottingham Forest’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Monday with an ankle injury.

The midfielder picked up the issue during Forest’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea before the international break and subsequently made himself unavailable for England duty.

Initial scans showed the 24-year-old had avoided serious ankle ligament damage but the England international has not recovered in time for Monday night’s game at the City Ground and remains on crutches as of Wednesday evening.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder is hoping to feature in Forest’s clash with local rivals Leicester City four days later, although a return against West Ham United on November 2 is understood to be more realistic.

Gibbs-White has become a key player for Forest since joining from Wolves in the summer of 2022. He contributed 10 assists and five goals in 37 Premier League games last season.

This term, he has scored once in six league appearances and made his senior debut for England in the Nations League victory over Republic of Ireland last month.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are 10th in the Premier League having lost just one of their opening seven fixtures, winning twice and drawing four times.

The club’s only defeat of the campaign so far — a 1-0 loss to Fulham — came without Gibbs-White, who was serving a one-match suspension for his red card in the 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion the weekend before.
