Pep Guardiola says Jack Grealish is set to be sidelined for at least a week while Manchester City will be without Jeremy Doku for “a little bit longer”.

Both players were absent from City’s squad for Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Sparta Prague with the club explaining the pair are not fully fit.

Guardiola explained they both sustained injuries during Sunday’s Premier League victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, a game that Doku started and played 66 minutes, while Grealish featured for 17 minutes from the bench.

“Injury, both,” Guardiola told TNT Sports when asked about the pair’s whereabouts. “Jeremy (will be out) a little bit longer than Jack but both are injured from the last games.

“I don’t know (how long they’re out for). Hopefully Jack one week, maybe 10 days, Jeremy a little bit longer.”

The pair’s injuries mean they are set to miss Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Southampton and Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur. They will face a race to be fit for the Premier League match against Bournemouth and Champions League tie against Sporting CP.

City are already without Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne and Oscar Bobb due to long-term injuries, while Kyle Walker sat out the weekend’s win against Wolves and Wednesday’s Champions League tie after picking up an issue while on international duty with England this month.

Guardiola could only name seven substitutes, including third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson, for Wednesday’s Champions League fixture as opposed to the maximum 12.
