Browns place Pro Bowl LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on IR with neck injury

Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury he sustained while tackling Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry last week. He will miss at least the next four games.

Owusu-Koramoah spent the night in a local hospital for further evaluation before being released Monday morning. He was at the Browns’ facility this week but was previously ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Browns will play Sunday without their two best linebackers as Jordan Hicks is also out due to elbow and triceps injuries.

Owusu-Koramoah leads the Browns in tackles with 61 and is tied for second in the NFL with 10 tackles for loss. He went to his first Pro Bowl last year and has used his athleticism to become a consistent playmaker. He signed a long-term extension with the Browns last summer.

The Browns announced that Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward cleared concussion protocol and will start Sunday. Last week, Ward suffered his sixth known concussion since 2018 and his second this season.

Ward, who’s having arguably his best season, was listed as questionable but was cleared Saturday after being a limited participant in Friday’s practice.
