The Minnesota Vikings frustrated the New York Jets early in Sunday’s game in London, taking a 17-7 lead in the first half as Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled. Rodgers threw two interceptions in the first quarter — the first time he’d ever thrown two first-quarter INTs in his career, per ESPN Research.

Rodgers threw a pick-six that Minnesota linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel took 63 yards for a touchdown to extend the Vikings’ lead. Rodgers was also picked off when Minnesota safety Cam Bynum snagged an overthrown ball that appeared headed toward Allen Lazard.

The Jets (2-2) finally got on the board just before the half as Rodgers found Lazard on a 14-yard pass for a score.

The Vikings (4-0) have an NFL-high 12 takeaways this season.

In other Minnesota news, running back Aaron Jones was listed as questionable to return with a hip injury and was replaced by Ty Chandler in the first half.

Rodgers’ disastrous start

It’s safe to say the first quarter was one of the worst quarters of Rodgers’ career. He started the day by missing Garrett Wilson at the sideline on his first pass attempt and then it only got worse from there.

Later in the first quarter, Rodgers didn’t see Van Ginkel on a quick pass attempt to Wilson and the linebacker picked it off and brought it to the house. On the very next possession, Rodgers badly missed Lazard and the Vikings picked it off again. — Zack Rosenblatt, Jets staff writer

How Vikings’ defense is dominating

Brian Flores’ defense has been taking names in 2024. The Vikings shut down Daniel Jones, Brock Purdy, C.J. Stroud and Jordan Love. Today it’s Rodgers.

Unlike weeks past, the Vikings have deployed some of their all-out blitz looks on third down. Minnesota brought seven pass rushers on the Jets’ first drive of the game, and since then Rodgers has seemed somewhat unsure what he is seeing. The other two aspects of this game that mirror weeks past are the Vikings’ early lead, which forces opposing offenses to throw, and the Vikings’ ability to stop the run, which leads to third-and-long situations. Rodgers may have two picks, and that’s the shiny statistic, but the Jets have five rushing yards on six carries. — Alec Lewis, Vikings staff writer
