Nuno Espirito Santo 'worried' about Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White's ankle injury

Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White will have a scan on an ankle injury tomorrow before it is decided whether he will join up with the England squad.

Nuno Espirito Santo says Forest are ‘worried’ about their midfield talisman, after seeing him limp off in their dramatic 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

Gibbs-White suffered the problem after seeing a shot blocked on the edge of the box at Stamford Bridge, where he was substituted in the 76th minute after lengthy treatment.

The 24-year-old was able to limp off the pitch under his own steam, without needing to be carried off.

Nuno says Forest have their fingers crossed that the issue will not prove to be serious.

But he also admitted: “We are worried about him. Hopefully, it is nothing and he can join up with the England squad. But he will have a scan tomorrow (Monday).

“It is important that it is nothing serious and that he can join them and play. But we also need him. Hopefully, it is not too serious.”

Gibbs-White won his first England cap when he came off the bench in the 2-0 win over Ireland in September.

He had returned to the Forest line-up at Chelsea after a one-match suspension, following his red card at Brighton.

Both he and head coach Nuno, who was also red carded on the south coast, are expected to have their disciplinary hearings on Wednesday, after being charged by the FA in the aftermath.
