The Green Bay Packers used a dominant third quarter to pick up a 24-19 win against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at So-Fi Stadium.

Packers tight end Tucker Kraft scored both of his touchdowns in the third quarter and Green Bay forced two turnovers in the frame — a fumble recovery and interception both recorded by Xavier McKinney. The Rams made it a one-score game in the fourth quarter, but Green Bay’s defense got the stop during Los Angeles’ final drive to seal the win.

The Packers improved to 3-2 and the Rams fell to 1-4.

Rams beat themselves

It’s not as though the Rams were playing world-beating football entering Sunday’s game. Still, they’ve often beat themselves in this one-win start to the season and against the Packers the usual self-inflicted errors popped up — this time as turnovers.

In the third quarter, running back Kyren Williams fumbled at the Packers’ 27-yard line and Green Bay recovered, scoring a long catch-and-run touchdown just two plays later. They capitalized again in the third quarter, this time off a Matthew Stafford interception and corresponding seven-play, 54-yard touchdown drive. Stafford played his worst game of the season, and as the game continued any chemistry with receiver Tutu Atwell seemed to deteriorate with Atwell dropping a deep pass and then Stafford targeting his spot on the interception. Stafford also held the ball too long on a third-down sack, with nobody open downfield.

The Rams ran the ball effectively in the first half, with Williams averaging 4.7 yards per carry on 13 carries and rookie Blake Corum spelling Williams for 20 yards on four carries. But after the second turnover (and 11-point deficit) the Rams skewed back toward the pass. — Jourdan Rodrigue, Rams beat writer
