The New York Jets fired coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday, league sources said, with the team off to a 2-3 start to the 2024 season.
Saleh, who was in his fourth season, was 20-36 as Jets coach, winning four games in his first season and going 7-10 in each of the past two years. Expectations were higher in 2024 with the return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers from an Achilles injury, but the team has struggled in back-to-back losses to the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. The team’s only wins have come against the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, two teams with a combined 2-7 record this season.
Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will serve as interim head coach, a team source said. New York next plays Monday against the Buffalo Bills.
Saleh, 45, was hired in 2021 after a four-year stint as defensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers.
