It is not often a player has the chance to play in a stadium named after them. But for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, that will be the case for the team’s home opener Sunday.
The Jaguars’ home, EverBank Stadium, will be renamed to TrEverBank Stadium for their Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns, the team announced Thursday. Lawrence collaborated with EverBank, the stadium’s naming rights sponsor, to rename the venue for the day.
“Trevor, we’re so glad to have you as a client. But when we said advantage you, taking over the stadium isn’t quite what we had in mind,” EverBank Stadium chief marketing officer Megan Johnson said jokingly. “But this Sunday’s the home opener, so I’ll tell you what, you can have the stadium for a day. Now, this Sunday let’s lock down the Bank.”
The crew will reportedly post temporary signage throughout the stadium indicating the temporary name change.

Jacksonville renamed the stadium from the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium to EverBank Stadium in 2010, and it seats 67,838 fans.
The Jaguars selected Lawrence with the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Lawrence, a one-time Pro Bowler, has amassed 11,932 passing yards, 59 touchdowns and 39 interceptions over his four-year career.
Lawrence and the Jaguars lost their season opener, 20-17, to the Miami Dolphins. The Clemson product went 12-for-21 passing, throwing for 162 yards and a touchdown. Jacksonville will now host the Browns, who are coming off a less competitive, 33-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.
Kickoff at TrEverBank Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
