Arsenal forward Michelle Agyemang is set to join Brighton & Hove Albion on a season-long loan before the women’s transfer deadline on Friday night.
Agyemang, 18, spent last season on loan with Championship side Watford where she scored five goals in 10 games. An England under-19 international, she is rated highly by Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall, who gave her a senior debut at the age of 16 during the 2022-23 season.
While on loan at Watford, the teenager was also one of three players the clubs allowed to play against Arsenal in the FA Cup — Agyemang scored against her parent side in a 5-1 defeat for Watford.
She featured for Arsenal in their pre-season tour of the US, of which some of Arsenal’s youngsters took part in with the option of a loan a possibility.
“For some of them it will be valuable going to other first team environments and getting playing time,” Eidevall said before the tour. “Some of them we will be keeping as that will be the best for them to be with the first team squad next season.
On Agyemang in particular, he added: “Michelle is a really big talent. For Michelle, it’s really important to get the experience this pre-season working with us and being in an Arsenal environment.
“Then, she’s one of those players where there is obviously going to be a lot of interest. We need to value if she can get highly competitive minutes that would be even greater than she would get at Arsenal because that could be really important for her development.
“But we need to assess all those options because she’s such a big talent that we need to make the right decision for her and with her, so she can develop into becoming an Arsenal Women first team player long-term.”
