David Datro Fofana has joined Goztepe in Turkey after a switch to AEK Athens collapsed.
The 21-year-old was expected to move to Greece before the end of their summer transfer window this week with a loan with an option to buy deal agreed between the two clubs.
However, a late proposed change of terms scuppered the deal leaving the striker, not part of the first-team plans at Stamford Bridge, in limbo.
The Turkish transfer window closes on Friday night with a loan move with an option to make the switch permanent for £20million sealed ahead of the deadline. There is a January recall clause included in the deal.
Fofana joined Chelsea from Molde for a £8.4m fee in January 2023 and went on to make just three appearances for the club.
The Ivory Coast international spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Burnley, where he scored four times in 15 appearances under former head coach Vincent Kompany. Before that, he was on loan with Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin.
He has three senior caps for his country but has not featured at international level since 2022.
