OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Baltimore Ravens cornerback Nate Wiggins won’t play against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday after the rookie first-round pick was involved in a car accident earlier this week, coach John Harbaugh said Friday.
Wiggins, who was a full participant in Wednesday’s workout, did not practice Thursday or Friday. He’s been listed on the injury report with a neck injury.
“They were kind of working through it,” Harbaugh said following Friday’s practice. “It looks like he’s not going to be able to make it to the game. He’ll be out. He’s healthy, he’s fine. He’s just not going to be able to play.”
Wiggins is the fourth known Raven to be involved in a car accident since the start of training camp in July.
Outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy missed a few practices after he was in an accident on his way to the team hotel in training camp. Inside linebacker Josh Ross missed time in the preseason and was in concussion protocol following an accident in August. Tight end Mark Andrews also got into an accident last month not far from the team facility.
Harbaugh said he isn’t sure whether Wiggins will be ready to play in Week 3, when Baltimore goes on the road to face the Dallas Cowboys.
Wiggins, picked No. 30 in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft after a standout college career at Clemson, played 17 defensive snaps and 11 special teams snaps in Baltimore’s season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Ravens have some depth at cornerback with Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stephens, Jalyn Armour-Davis, Ar’Darius Washington and rookie fourth-round pick T.J. Tampa. Veteran cornerback Ka’dar Hollman also will likely be elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game, primarily to play special teams.
