Texans' Stefon Diggs lands on season-ending IR after Week 8 knee injury

The Houston Texans will be without another wide receiver, this one for the rest of the season as Stefon Diggs will land on season-ending injured reserve after sustaining a knee injury during the team’s Week 8 win against the Indianapolis Colts, the Texans announced Tuesday.

Diggs suffered a non-contact knee injury trying to cut on his route with 1:50 remaining in the third quarter Sunday. He fell to the ground grabbing his right knee, but was able to walk to the locker room.

Houston had already been shorthanded at wideout with Nico Collins on IR with a hamstring injury. The earliest Collins could return to game action would be Week 10.

Diggs, who turns 31 in late November, joined the Texans in one of the more notable moves of the offseason when the Bills traded the All-Pro wideout to Houston. He hauled in 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns for the Texans before the injury. Diggs’ contract voids after this season, so he could become a free agent in March 2025.

The Texans have a short week ahead as they will face the New York Jets on “Thursday Night Football.”
