Missouri and Oklahoma faced off 96 times as members of the Big 12 and its predecessors but none of the meetings were quite as bonkers as their first encounter as SEC members Saturday night.
Locked in a defensive struggle until the middle of the fourth quarter, the Tigers and Sooners combined for five touchdowns over the final 8:47, including a pair of defensive scores, that culminated in a 30-23 Missouri win.
With the score tied with less than 30 seconds remaining, Missouri’s Triston Newson stripped Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold. Tigers defensive end Zion Young picked up the ball and ran 17 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

The victory keeps No. 24 Missouri (7-2, 3-2 SEC) alive for a possible College Football Playoff spot. The Sooners (5-5, 1-5) are in danger of missing a bowl game for the first time since 1998.
“It gives us another win and keeps us in the Playoff hunt. That’s right I said it, Playoff hunt,” Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz said while looking directly at the camera.
