The Carolina Panthers are benching the 2023 No. 1 pick Bryce Young for their Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, a league source confirmed Monday. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was first to report the news.
Andy Dalton will be the new starting quarterback for the Panthers, per reports.
The Panthers are 0-2 with blowout losses to the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers. Through two games, Young has 245 passing yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions.
Against the Chargers on Sunday, the 5-foot-10, 2021 Heisman winner completed 18 of 26 passes in the 26-3 defeat. But those completions went for just 84 yards, the fourth-lowest passing total in franchise history for a quarterback with at least 25 pass attempts.
