Charlotte fired head coach Biff Poggi on Monday, a person briefed on the decision told The Athletic, ending his tenure in less than two full seasons.
Poggi went 6-16 in two years. He was 3-9 last season and started 3-7 this season, losing 59-24 to USF on Saturday.
Poggi was previously an associate head coach at Michigan and Jim Harbaugh’s right-hand man. He had just one year of on-field college coaching (in 1987) but was a successful high school coach in Maryland for decades, and was also a successful businessman.
Charlotte has just one winning season since the program was revived in 2013. That was a 7-6 campaign in 2019 under Will Healy.
