Las Vegas Raiders starting quarterback Gardner Minshew will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after suffering a broken collarbone late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 29-19 loss to the Denver Broncos, a league source confirmed to The Athletic.
Helped by team staffers, Minshew headed to the locker room on Vegas’ second-to-last drive of the game with just over three minutes to play. He initially remained down on the field grabbing his left shoulder after being sacked by Broncos defenders Cody Barton and Jonathan Cooper. Minshew finished an overall sporadic passing day completing 25-of-42 attempts for 230 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Head coach Antonio Pierce said during his postgame press conference that the injury “doesn’t look good” as the team awaits further testing to determine the full severity.
After suffering their seventh consecutive loss Sunday, attention now turns to the Kansas Chiefs, as the AFC West rivals will meet for a Black Friday matchup on four days rest.
Stopping short of any definitive statements, Pierce suggested after the game that there’s a chance that Aidan O’Connell (thumb) could be activated from injured reserve and play against the Chiefs. The team will hold its first practice of Week 13 on Tuesday.
