Danish football clubs Nordsjaelland and AGF have been fined 5,000 kroner (€670, £555) each for a snowball fight involving supporters in a league match.
The two teams met in the Danish Superliga on Friday November 22, with a disciplinary process from the Danish FA (DBU) deciding the fine on Tuesday December 5 after determining a total of four snowballs were thrown by the two clubs’ fanbases, two from each side.
The DBU’s disciplinary body highlighted how there has been an “increased focus on throwing objects towards and onto the pitch”, citing that snowballs were thrown onto the playing area by the fans which constituted “violations of safety and order at the stadium.”
However, the report acknowledges that the fines would be greater had the snowballs struck any individuals or had any material influence on the outcome of the match. The rulings cannot be appealed.
Nordsjaelland won the match 1-0 thanks to a 90-minute goal from U.S. forward Milan Iloski.
AGF are fourth in the Superliga after 17 rounds of matches, with Nordsjaelland three places further back in the standings.
