Club World Cup 2025: Group tables, how teams qualified and the full fixture list

The draw for FIFA’s revamped Club World Cup was made in Miami on December 5.

The 32 teams were drawn into eight groups of four to discover their opponents for the 2025 tournament, which will be held across 11 U.S. cities.

Inter Miami will kick off the competition against Egypt’s champions Al Ahly at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami on June 15, 2025, with the final being played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 13.

Below, The Athletic runs through the eight groups, how each team qualified, all the fixtures and the knockout format…

Bayern Munich analysis, by Seb Stafford-Bloor

Bayern Munich will zigzag up and down the country. Starting in Cincinnati on 15th June against Auckland City, before heading down to face Boca Juniors in Miami five days later — that could be a real occasion, even if it is scheduled for 3am German time — then bouncing up to Charlotte, in North Carolina, to take on Benfica on the 24th June.

It’s not an easy group, but Auckland are among the weaker teams in the competition and should provide a more forgiving start. Handy, given that Bayern will hope to be involved in the latter rounds of the Champions League, which run right to the end of May, and could use a chance to ease into this tournament.

If Bayern do win that group — which they should — that will allow them to stay in Charlotte for their round of 16, before heading to Philadelphia for a potential quarter-final (also at 3am German time) and then New Jersey for the semis and beyond.

Chelsea analysis, by Dan Sheldon

Chelsea’s fixtures for the Club World Cup group stage will see them begin the competition in Atlanta on June 16, where they will play Mexican side Club Leon at the 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

From there, Chelsea will be given three days to recover from their opening game before playing their next two matches in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL franchise the Philadelphia Eagles, on June 20 and June 24.

Up first in Philadelphia is Brazilian side Flamengo, with their final group stage game taking place against Esperance Sportive de Tunis from Tunisia, one of the four African teams participating in the Club World Cup.

If Chelsea finish top of Group D — which many expect them to do — their first knockout game will be against the runners-up from Group C in Miami on June 29.
