Chris Paul moves into second on NBA all-time assists list, passing Jason Kidd

Chris Paul has achieved another NBA milestone. The 12-time All-Star has now recorded the second-most assists in league history, surpassing Jason Kidd and sitting behind only John Stockton on the all-time list.

Paul notched assist No. 12,092 on Sunday as his San Antonio Spurs faced the New Orleans Pelicans in San Antonio to move one dime ahead of Kidd. Stockton’s 15,806 assists — which he accumulated over 19 seasons — are the most in NBA history.

Earlier this fall, Paul joined Hall of Famers Stockton and Kidd as the only players with 12,000 assists.

Paul entered Sunday averaging 10.4 points, 8.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds through his first 23 games with the Spurs. The 39-year-old signed a one-year, $11 million deal with San Antonio in the summer.

A first-round pick (No. 4 overall) in the 2005 draft, Paul also played for New Orleans, Los Angeles, Houston, Oklahoma City, Phoenix and Golden State during his 20-year career.
