Chelsea have stepped up talks with AEK Athens over the sale of striker David Datro Fofana in the hope a move can be agreed before the window shuts in Greece on Wednesday.
Datro Fofana is one of the fringe players Chelsea have been trying to sell all summer and the forward has been training away from the first team squad while his future is being sorted out.
AEK Athens have shown the biggest interest in the past two weeks and negotiations have increased over the last 48 hours.
Chelsea bought the forward from Molde for a fee worth more than €10million (£8.4m; $11m) in January 2023.
He has made just three appearances for the first team since then (one start) and been loaned out to Union Berlin and Burnley, where he scored four Premier League goals in 15 appearances earlier this year.
AEK Athens and Chelsea are still in discussions over a transfer fee. Chelsea are looking at a deal which will see them get a smaller fee than what they paid for the 21-year-old up front but if add-ons are triggered will ensure they make a profit.
