Florida adds Dallas Wilson, 5-star WR, following his Oregon release

Florida announced the addition of five-star recruit Dallas Wilson on Sunday, three days after the elite receiving prospect was granted his release from Oregon.

Wilson signed with the Ducks on Dec. 4, the first day of the early signing period. It was the fulfillment of a commitment that began in January 2023.

But last week, he asked Oregon to release him from his financial aid agreement. His agent, EL1TE Sports Management Group’s Vernell Brown, told The Athletic on Thursday that Wilson wanted to be closer to an ill family member. Florida made sense; Wilson starred at Tampa Bay Tech, about two hours from Gainesville. Brown said the move had nothing to do with money.

The flip became official Sunday evening.

Wilson was the No. 20 overall recruit and fourth-best wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite rankings. In his final three high school seasons, he caught 130 passes for 2,423 yards and 28 touchdowns.

With his addition, Florida’s class moved to No. 10 nationally. If that ranking holds through the traditional February signing day, it will be the highest finish for Gators coach Billy Napier and the program’s best since 2020.

His departure from Oregon’s class dropped the Ducks from third to fifth in the 247Sports Composite.
