Steven Reid has confirmed his departure from the coaching staff at Nottingham Forest.
Reid is understood to have left the club during pre-season after three years at the City Ground.
It was the 43-year-old’s second spell as first-team coach. The former Republic of Ireland international initially joined the club in the summer of 2021 and had a brief spell as caretaker manager following the departure of Chris Houghton in September 2021.
He was a respected figure in the dugout during Steve Cooper’s time in charge, as Forest won promotion via the Championship play-offs at the end of the 2021-22 season.
Reid left in October 2022 to study to become a mental health counsellor but returned to the club at the start of last season to work alongside Cooper.
Reid, who played for Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, Queens Park Rangers, West Bromwich Albion and Burnley, has been absent from the dugout since the new Premier League campaign began.
“So my time at Nottingham Forest has come to an end. I would like to wish everybody at the club every success for the future. Some amazing memories shared over three seasons that will live with me forever,” said Reid in an Instagram post.
Forest confirmed his departure with a message of their own, on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying: “Wishing you all the best for the next chapter, and thank you for everything.”
