Football Parlay Fridays Week 5: Riding with UNC over Duke and four other college football underdogs

Our Football Parlay Friday last week wasn’t close to being profitable, so Baylor blowing their late lead against Colorado wasn’t as painful as it could have been. Nevertheless, that would have been a nice winner to soften the blow.

The difficult part is that I almost went with Buffalo and Michigan, and both won outrights (Buffalo was a double-digit underdog). That certainly stings, but as I say every week, these are a fun little sweat to have during the week of college football, so it’s not worth getting too worked up about.

But if it keeps happening … I still won’t be (too) mad.

Season record: 4-40, -$26.76, -30.4% ROI

After hitting the alternate spread with Penn State last week, we move back to all moneyline underdogs this week for our round-robin parlay. Four of the five dogs are at least a field-goal underdog, so we have some big payouts coming our way if we manage to hit a few winners.

I think these five bets all have value — or close to it — according to my college football projection model and I am going to place them in a round-robin parlay. (You can find all of my Week 5 CFB projections here.)

The bets:

  • Sam Houston State moneyline (+290)
  • Louisville moneyline (+220)
  • Georgia Southern moneyline (+140)
  • North Carolina moneyline (+120)
  • Louisiana Monroe moneyline (+200)

A simple parlay would have all five of these bets together for odds of +19668. That means if you bet $1, you’ll win $196.68. This will be one part of our parlay, but sportsbooks have a feature called round robins that will automatically parlay different combinations.

On BetMGM’s interface, you’ll scroll down your bet slip to see that section. I’ll be selecting “Round Robin 2/5.” This selection parlays each bet with another bet, creating 10 two-game parlays (11 parlays total if you include the five-game parlay above). I’m going to be staking $2 on every bet in this process for a grand total of $22.

The round-robin parlays:

  • Sam Houston State/Louisville/Georgia Southern/North Carolina/Louisiana Monroe (+19668) — $2 to win $395.37
  • Sam Houston State/Louisville (+1148) — $2 to win $22.96
  • Sam Houston State/Georgia Southern (+836) — $2 to win $16.72
  • Sam Houston State/North Carolina (+758) — $2 to win $15.16
  • Sam Houston State/Louisiana Monroe (+1070) — $2 to win $21.40
  • Louisville/Georgia Southern (+668) — $2 to win $13.36
  • Louisville/North Carolina (+604) — $2 to win $12.08
  • Louisville/Louisiana Monroe (+860) — $2 to win $17.20
  • Georgia Southern/North Carolina (+428) — $2 to win $8.56
  • Georgia Southern/Louisiana Monroe (+620) — $2 to win $12.40
  • North Carolina/Louisiana Monroe (+560) — $2 to win $11.20
