James Milner faces an unspecified period out of action for Brighton & Hove Albion, head coach Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed.
Milner, 38, will miss Saturday’s home game against Ipswich Town with a hamstring injury which forced him off 17 minutes into the 1-1 draw at Arsenal before the international break.
Speaking at his press conference on Thursday morning, Hurzeler said: “James had a scan. It’s not a big issue, but with him we have to go day by day. We have to look at how fast he can play without any problems. Therefore, we have to see step by step.”
Asked if Milner would be out for a couple of weeks, Hurzeler added: “It can be. It’s an issue where you can’t approximate if it will be two weeks, three weeks or only one week. We have to be patient.”
Milner made the 637th Premier League appearance of his career at Arsenal, putting him within 16 games of the 653-match record set by Gareth Barry.
The former England international joined Brighton on a free transfer from Liverpool in 2023 and has made 23 appearances for the south coast club since then.
