Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor and star defensive tackle DeForest Buckner will practice Wednesday, Colts coach Shane Steichen announced.
Taylor has not practiced or played since sustaining a right high ankle injury in Week 4 against Pittsburgh. The 2021 NFL rushing yards leader had been off to a strong start this year, totaling 72 carries for 349 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and four touchdowns through his first four games.
Buckner suffered a high right ankle sprain in Week 2 at Green Bay and was placed on injured reserve. He was eligible to return last week but the Colts decided to give the two-time All-Pro a little more time before officially opening his 21-day practice window Wednesday. Buckner, 30, has 1.5 sacks in two games this year.
The Colts are also opening the 21-day practice window for backup linebacker Cameron McGrone, who dislocated his right elbow during training camp and was placed on injured reserve before the season.
