Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. ruled out vs. Giants with hamstring injury

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. is inactive for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants at Metlife Stadium with a hamstring injury.

Robinson was expected to play, but after going through pregame warmups, the team decided he could not. In his absence, Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols will garner the most work behind quarterback Jayden Daniels. Second-year back Chris Rodriguez Jr. was also elevated from the practice squad.

Robinson, the Commanders’ leading rusher, missed extended portions of Washington’s 18-15 Hail Mary win over the Chicago Bears last week and was a limited participant in three practices ahead of the NFC East contest. The rugged interior runner, averaging a career-high 4.6 yards per carry, previously sat out the Week 6 loss at the Baltimore Ravens with a knee injury.

Robinson, 25, is having a breakout season with 461 rushing yards and six touchdowns (sixth in the NFL) in seven games.

Cornelius Lucas, part of Washington’s left tackle rotation with third-round pick Brandon Coleman, is out with an ankle injury. Quarterback Jeff Driskel, safety Darrick Forrest, TE Colson Yankoff and linebacker Dominique Hampton round out the inactives list.
