Everton's Dwight McNeil a doubt for West Ham match with knee injury

Everton winger Dwight McNeil is a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League match against West Ham United due to a knee injury.

24-year-old McNeil has started all 10 league matches for Sean Dyche’s side this season but he suffered pain in his knee late in the recent 1-1 draw at home to Fulham, resulting in him being substituted off in the 86th minute.

McNeil, who has scored four goals this season, has usually played as one of the attacking three behind central striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Everton’s 4-2-3-1 formation this season, with summer signings Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom recently deployed in attacking wide areas.

Should McNeil not be available for the match, Abdoulaye Doucoure — who missed the 1-0 defeat at Southampton through injury — could return to the starting line-up if he is passed fit to play behind the striker, or Jack Harrison could return to the side.

Everton start the matchday in 16th place in the Premier League with nine points from their opening 10 games, but they would move above 14th-placed West Ham with victory over Julen Lopetegui’s side.
