The New York Giants will likely be without one of their top pass rushers for the foreseeable future. Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux underwent surgery Wednesday morning to repair a broken schapoid bone and had a screw placed in his wrist, according to a league source.
Giants coach Brian Daboll declined to offer a timeline on Thibodeaux’s injury status or whether he was being considered for injured reserve, labeling him as “week-to-week.” A typical recovery time for a schapoid bone injury is four to six weeks.
Early word from a source on Kayvon Thibodeaux’s expected timeline from surgery on the broken schapoid bone in his wrist: 4-to-6 weeks is typical with this injury. It’s possibly he could be back in less time, but it’ll depend on how he feels/recovers. Thibodeaux got a screw…

“Again, I’m not going to give you a timeline or anything like that,” Daboll said Wednesday. “I would just say he’s week-to-week. I’m encouraged with what I’ve heard, but again, you never know.”
Thibodeaux, 23, has the second-most pressures (99) and second-most sacks (17.5) on the Giants since being drafted in 2022, according to TruMedia. He has taken a step back in production thus far in 2024, registering 16 pressures and 2.0 sacks over the team’s first five games. However, Thibodeaux has been a central part of a Giants pass rush that currently leads the league with 22 sacks.
Azeez Ojulari is expected to fill in for Thibodeaux opposite Brian Burns.
