Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will miss Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday.
Lawrence missed last Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with an AC joint sprain in his shoulder, but Pederson said Lawrence could return after the Jaguars’ Week 12 bye.
“It’s still a question mark, but you know, I’m optimistic,” Pederson said.
The injury came from a hit in Jacksonville’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles in early November. Lawrence’s continued absence is a blow to the 2-8 Jaguars, who go up against the 8-1 Lions in Detroit this week.
With Lawrence out, Jacksonville will again start Mac Jones, who struggled last week against Minnesota, completing 14 of 22 passes for 111 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. The Jaguars lost 12-7.
“He’s been in big games before, he knows how to handle them, I would expect that he’s going to rebound this week, learn from it obviously, as we all are, and move forward,” Pederson said.
