Kerstin Casparij signs Manchester City contract extension through to 2027

Manchester City defender Kerstin Casparij has signed a contract extension to keep her at the club until 2027.

The 24-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of the current season but she has committed her future to the Women’s Super League side for an additional two years.

City head coach Gareth Taylor said: “We’re really happy that Kerstin has decided to extend her time with us.

“Kerstin is a player that we felt could help the team and improve in many areas – which we feel she has – which is why we’re delighted to continue the journey together!”

The Netherlands international has made 66 appearances in all competitions for City since joining the club in 2022.

On extending her stay at the Joie Stadium, Casparij said: “It feels amazing. It was pretty much a no-brainer and as soon as Charlotte and Gareth let me know they wanted to extend my contract I was pretty much up for it straight away.”

“I think we’re doing really good things. We have some big goals with the Club, as a team and individually for me and trying to take it step by step. We want to win something [this season]. We want to give our fans something to celebrate and ourselves something celebrate.”

Casparij won back-to-back Dutch league titles with FC Twente before signing for City following Lucy Bronze’s move to Barcelona.

She has featured 10 times in all competitions so far this season and opened her account for the club in City’s 2-0 win over St. Polten in the Champions League last Thursday.

At international level, Casparij has won 39 caps for the Netherlands since making her senior debut in 2021.
