Luke Shaw has returned to team training as the Manchester United full-back continues his recovery from a calf injury.
Shaw has not played for United in nine months, since coming off at half time during a 2-1 win at Luton Town in February with a hamstring issue.
The 29-year-old was selected as part of England’s squad for the European Championship and made two appearances at the tournament, starting the 2-1 defeat in the final against Spain.
On his return to United, Shaw suffered a calf issue at the start of pre-season training.
Although initially expected to only miss the opening games of the Premier League season, former manager Erik ten Hag said last month that he had suffered a setback in his recovery.
Shaw had been undergoing individual recovery work at Carrington but was involved in a session with the rest of the first team squad for the first time since his calf injury on Friday.
The England international’s progress follows Leny Yoro also rejoining the group earlier this week, while long-term absentee Tyrell Malacia recently returned to full training too.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will hold a pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Leicester City, his final game in interim charge before handing over to Ruben Amorim.
