Titans QB Will Levis to start vs. Chargers, coach Brian Callahan says

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is set to return to the field against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, coach Brian Callahan announced Friday.

After missing the team’s past three games with an AC joint injury in his right shoulder, Levis is set to start for the first time since Week 6. The 25-year-old was listed as a full participant on the practice report Thursday — one day after being limited in Wednesday’s session — for the first time since Week 7.

“It sucks when you’re out there and can’t be playing,” Levis told reporters on Thursday. “Hopefully I’ll be able to go this week. I’ve been champing at the bit, and excited to go out there and lead our team.”

Levis started each of the Titans’ first five games this season, but exited in the first quarter against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 30 with a right shoulder injury and did not return to the game. He played in the team’s next contest against the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 13, after Tennessee’s bye week, but has not seen game action since.

In Levis’ absence, backup QB Mason Rudolph stepped in for the Titans, going a combined 67-of-111 for 721 yards and four touchdowns against four interceptions. The Titans are 1-2 over that three-game span.

Levis completed 83 of 125 passes for 699 yards and five touchdowns with seven interceptions in five games this season, while rushing for 106 yards on 16 carries.

The Titans (2-6) sit in the bottom half of the AFC South through the first half of the season.
