Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was carted off the field and later ruled out with a concussion after Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair delivered a late, hard hit while Lawrence was sliding in the second quarter of Sunday’s matchup.
Immediately after the hit, while Lawrence remained on the ground, Jaguars tight end Evan Engram shoved Al-Shaair in retaliation, igniting a fight between Jaguars and Texans players while medical personnel attended to Lawrence.
Al-Shaair and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones were ejected from the game for unnecessary roughness and Engram was given a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness. The penalties offset.

Lawrence, 25, is in his fourth season with Jacksonville after being selected with the No. 1 pick in 2021. Sunday marked Lawrence’s first game back since Week 9 as he recovered from a shoulder injury.
Prior to the injury, Lawrence had 41 passing yards on 4-of-10 passing with an interception. Mac Jones entered in Lawrence’s place and later drove Jacksonville on a field goal drive.
