Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni has signed his first professional contract.
The 17-year-old, who arrived from Leicester in September 2023, has been rewarded after making a strong impression at academy and first-team level.
Nyoni is training regularly with the senior squad and he was recently included on the bench for Liverpool’s Champions League tie against Bologna, after captaining the under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League earlier last month.
He began with club’s under-18’s but his talent and potential saw him fast-tracked through the ranks. He made his first-team debut as a substitute against Southampton in the FA Cup last season under former manager Jurgen Klopp.
During the club’s pre-season tour, he impressed new head coach Arne Slot with a handful of eye-catching performances, including scoring in the 4-1 victory against Sevilla at Anfield.
“He’s only just turned 17 and his body still has to grow,” Slot said in pre-season. “We are really careful with him. He doesn’t join every session. You can see his quality. He needs some time to grow to play at Premier League level but he’s an interesting player.”
