USMNT's Tim Weah suffers hamstring injury, expected to be out for two weeks

Juventus and United States winger Tim Weah has sustained a right hamstring injury and is expected to miss two weeks of action.

Weah suffered the problem after coming on as a substitute in Tuesday’s 4-0 Coppa Italia win over Cagliari.

A Juventus statement on Wednesday said Weah “underwent clinical and instrumental examinations this morning at J|Medical, which revealed a low-grade injury of the femoral biceps of the right thigh”. Club sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, hope the 24-year-old will return for the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final against Milan on January 3.

If Weah is able to return by then, he will miss only two games, Sunday’s trip to Monza and the home game against Fiorentina on December 29.

Weah has been a regular at Juventus under new head coach Thiago Motta this season, featuring in 18 games and contributing four goals and four assists.

Juventus remain unbeaten in Serie A under Motta but have drawn 10 of their 16 games, meaning they are sixth in the table and nine points behind leaders Atalanta.
