Wild star Kirill Kaprizov, a Hart Trophy contender through the first quarter of the NHL season, escaped serious injury to his right knee, a team source told The Athletic on Sunday afternoon.
Kaprizov, who was injured Thursday night in Edmonton and missed Saturday’s game in Calgary, had an MRI exam in the Twin Cities on Sunday and was examined by team doctors in Bloomington. According to the team source, Kaprizov is feeling better, did not sustain a serious injury and the Wild will monitor him day by day to see how he progresses and how he feels and determine when he can return to the lineup.

Kaprizov ranks second in the NHL with 34 points. He leads the league with 12 multi-point games, 1.79 points per game, 26 even-strength points (11 goals, 15 assists) and 24 points on the road.
By NHL rule, Kaprizov’s franchise-record 11-game road point streak came to an end by not playing in Calgary.
