The New York Yankees may have lost 9-4 on Saturday to the Pittsburgh Pirates, but they still won by the end of the night.
Because the Houston Astros beat the Cleveland Guardians, the Yankees have secured the No. 1 seed in the American League. They will face the winner of the No. 4 seed Baltimore Orioles vs. the undetermined No. 5 seed in the AL Division Series.
The Yankees lose 9-4 to the Pirates. They are 93-68 on the season.
They can clinch the No. 1 seed in the American League tonight if the Guardians lose to the Astros.

The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals are tied for the No. 5 seed. With a win vs. the Chicago White Sox on Sunday or a Kansas City Royals loss to the Atlanta Braves, Detroit will become the No. 5 seed.
The Yankees will host Game 1 of the ALDS next Saturday.
